Child Poverty
In our communities families are often larger than average, education costs are normally higher, food costs are higher and poor people cannot take full advantage of social housing because they need to live within the community.
It was not possible to manage on benefits during the good years and now as the government is cutting benefits at every corner, many of the poor families in our community are under severe stress.
Crisis
there are families that don't know where their next meal will come from.
We don't have to travel to deepest Russia or Israel to find poverty.
Families, without curtains, radiators with broken windows, broken bathtubs, toilets and no heat in the winter;
Single mums, credit crunch casualties, many on the fringe of community life, some are suffering with mental health.
Relying on benefits and our help, The welfare state does not provide enough for those that need it most
Some turn to drugs and crime or end up in an escalating circle of debt.
